Dr. Suzanne Tough recognized by the United Nations

Wow, what a neat (and deserved) honour! Dr. Tough, one of the principal investigators of the Connections First project, was recognized by the United Nations on International Women’s Day as one of 100 women around the world whose work is being celebrated by the UN Women Global Innovation Coalition For Change (GICC).

When interviewed in New York City upon receipt of her award, Suzanne was asked about her work in helping address some of the world’s biggest problems when it comes to families and children: “When communities are thriving, nothing happens. Children are healthy and able to learn, violence and addiction are reduced, and neighborhoods are safe and supportive. In a crisis-driven world, there are obstacles for the investments that support ‘nothing happening. Our work has sought to address this by sharing compelling research with decision makers and responding to their needs for evidence.”

We’re glad you’re on the Connections First team Suzanne! Congratulations again.
